Colorful Landscape Paintings
Carolyn Brown teaches art at Lynnhaven Middle School in Virginia. Lynnhaven currently serves some 1,200 students in grades six through eight. In 2004, Lynnhaven was named as a Virginia School to Watch.
Students studied the color palette of the Fauves or "Wild Beasts." After some experimentation, they created these colorful landscape paintings. See Lesson Plan.
Seventh Grade Mixed Media - Painting Trees and Stamp Printing
Students made some tree drawings from observation then created these impressionistic tree paintings. Stamp print leaf borders add interest. See Lesson Plan.
Sixth Grade goes Under the Sea - Collagraph Prints
Sixth graders used card board and tag board to create printing plates. A variety of hole punches added interest. Prints were run through some old wringer presses. Woody Duncan's Collagraph Lesson served as inspiration.
